Maria Yordanova

Born in Kyiv, Maria is a financial professional specializing in commercial banking. Her world changed on the evening of February 24th when her family’s city fell under Russian military occupation. From that moment, she rallied Canadian members of parliament to accelerate the welcoming of Ukrainians fleeing the war, helped with CUEAT applications and flew to Europe to help her family members and other Ukrainians seeking safety. Prior to the war, she was an engaged community leader working on multi-faith partnership initiatives and helping engage young Canadians into the political sphere.
